Metropolis Presents:
Mega
Live at the Grace, London
Mega is one of the strongest voices to surface from the contemporary soul scene in London. Making an instant impact with her debut single ‘Chariot’– which has already amassed nearly 6 million combined streams– she’s been quick to cement her status as a star. She’s gained the early support of influential online platforms Mahogany, NME, Wonderland Magazine, The Clash Magazine and The Independent, as well as recognition from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC London. ‘Let Me Let You Go’, a deeply personal single released earlier in 2020, was picked by Jack Saunders for his Future Artists on BBC Radio 1 and was chosen by the Brit Awards for their Sunday Spotlight. New Wave Magazine described this single as “painting a landscape detailed with vulnerability and honesty”.
Both singles appear on Mega’s 6-track EP ‘Future Me’, released at the end of 2020. Taking inspiration from her past, she often takes themes of self-esteem, self-love and growth and turns them into emotive songs with enchanting melodies. She draws influence from the music that surrounded her growing up; power-soul songstresses such as Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston have deeply inspired her through the honesty they convey in their music.
