James and the Cold Gun
Live at The Grace, London
Welsh band, James and the Cold Gun…likes to make noise… a shit load of noise. The duo takes their name from the Kate Bush song James and the Cold Gun . Their latest track, “Plug Me In”, starts loud, gets louder and very rarely stops to take a breath. It’s intense, fun, and occasionally annoying; but you’ve got to admire their knack of writing absolutely titanic riffs. They’re all about raucous rockers characterized by dominant guitar and choice lyrics… which makes it clear that the band are not at all interested in subtlety. If you like your music timid then move on sucker…Their records are made to be played hard and loud. Noise blaring out of car windows and turn air into cottage cheese.
I’ve heard rumors about their live performances. In those gigs boys are made into men. While the women take their life into their hands. No one leaves without a black eye, a bruised knuckle or stinking of a brewery (or all three, if you’re really lucky). Yeah, their sound is “shoe horned” between Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, Queens Of The Stone Ages and the Idles..They are not for the timid…
Here’s the back story… both members of the band are named James…There’s James Joseph and there’s James Biss… I think I got it right? They are best of mates..and they are flat- mates. They were bouncing around a bunch of different bands and realized that their appetite for stardom was not being satisfied.. Lots of bands have this “itch” to do something different. The two James felt their chakras was to create a rock band that could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch and would mildly affect the Richter scale..
